My last stop before leaving Florida is Tallahassee. Here resides the USA Taoist Tai Chi Center where I am attending an International Workshop. …The grounds are in full bloom with pink azaleas and luscious kumquats; the perpetual lit incense coil on the front porch exudes a fragrant odor. It is a place of welcome that segues nicely into the next chapter of my gypsy year.

The trees are still bare on this second day of April. I see the sun setting behind a hill on the other side of the creek. The air is still, a few bird songs linger, a neighbor walks by stepping lightly on the mulched trail so she’s barely audible. The weather forecast says temperatures will dip into the twenties tonight. I’m debating whether to light a fire or turn up the heat. So far the Merlot is keeping me warm on this first night in the Grace cabin.

As my departure draws near, I take more walks and ponder life. I have worked many hours on my book, walking the half mile or so to access the Internet each day, staying inside and mostly to myself. In the atmosphere of spring I reflect on my stay here and imagine what is yet to come. I begin to notice what has bloomed in me and what is still dormant.

I came to this sacred land to reside in Grace. I came as a hermit longing to be alone with herself, her thoughts, her Spirit, her writings. But I was not alone….I leave with Grace abiding in me.
