2015-02-18 002_bArctic air and a wind advisory are in effect for today. We are at four degrees with a low prediction of minus twelve. Brrrrrrr.  But it could be worse if the sun weren’t shining. Every person, animal and bird are doing their best to survive this long-haul winter weather. We are feeding the chickadees, sparrows, wrens, cardinals, bluejays, mourning doves, black birds and squirrels plenty of seeds and suet. When there is no room at the feeders, a few birds roost on our window sills awaiting their turn. When the squirrel gets frustrated, it burrows through the snow looking for buried treasure and surfaces with white fur. We once spotted a black and white downy woodpecker munching on the suet that was chased away by a flock of black birds. Its hard to fly solo in under these conditions.
